Weekend Planner: Concerts, Top Chef at Tanger

This weekend's events bring a variety of options, including movies, concerts and Bravo's Top Chefs in town.

Friday is here again and that can only mean one thing – weekend fun! If your weekend is completely open or you’re just looking for something to do, don’t fret – there are many events going on in Deer Park and North Babylon to keep you entertained.

The forecast for the upcoming weekend is a bit dicey with thunderstorms on tap for Friday and Sunday and partly cloudy conditions for Saturday. Temperatures, already climbing this past week, are set to soar into the 70’s all weekend long, so it’ll be warm enough for shorts and flip-flops.

Escape the potentially stormy weather, grab the popcorn and head over to the on Friday at 1 p.m. for a showing of the Steven Spielberg film “War Horse.” Rated PG-13 and starring Jeremy Irvine.

Looking for a little more relaxation? Head over to The Bean in Babylon Village for Friday Nights For Real Music starting at 8 p.m. Acoustic guitarist J.P. Noonan will be taking requests and playing hit songs from the 60’s through the 90s. As if that was not enough, The Bean will also host local psychic Marie who will be conducting tarot card readings.

Saturday will bring more local fun to our area as Tommy Sullivan, of Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge, will perform 50’s and 60’s classics, Beatles hits, Sinatra and jazz at the West Babylon Public Library starting at 2 pm. Sullivan will also share inside stories about his time with the band and the performers he has worked with in his lifetime. The event is free, but attendees will require tickets which can be obtained through the Library.

The popular reality show Top Chef comes to Long Island on Saturday and Sunday at the as Bravo’s tour hits the Deer Park Tanger Outlets. The show’s chefs will put on performances at 10:30 a.m., 12 p.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on both days. The event will take place at the East Grand Avenue Parking lot at Main Entrance 1 near Starbucks and will include show secrets, meeting the chefs and even the ability for audience members to taste the chef’s food!
