What's Happening: Wednesday's Events

August arrives with stormy skies and lots going on around Deer Park and North Babylon.

Wednesday will bring a better chance for showers throughout the day, hovering near the 50 percent mark, and a lingering chance until the evening, so keep your umbrella handy. Highs in Deer Park are forecasted to be around80° and could get as low as 68° at night.

Send the kids off to  at Cedar Beach Marina! Campers ages 6-12 will explore Long Island’s marine habitats on the beautiful south shore beaches in Babylon. Unique specialized sessions for ages 6-8 and for 9-12 offered by Cornell educators. US Coast Guard visits campers to teach marine safety and protecting the waters from pollution. Each week costs $225 and starts at 9:00 a.m.

Let the kids have some fun and win some great prizes playing Kids' Bingo down at the Deer Park Community Center at 4:30 p.m. $1.00 per card, 2 card maximum.

Check out some awesome old and classic cars from the 40's, 50's and 60's at  in Deer Park. Advance Auto Parts will give 10 % off anything in the Store the night of the car show, located at People's United Bank Parking Lot starting at 5:00 p.m.

The Deer Park Community Center will also host for ages 13 and up for free! Call the community center ahead, wear some light clothing and register to learn how to defend yourself using martial arts.

The Town of Babylon Summer Concert Series at Tanner Park continues on with a double feature –  The fun gets underway at 7:00 p.m. and bring lawn chairs or a thick blanket to sit on – the ground is bound to be soggy.
