On March 4, 2014, SPARC Artist-in-Residence Grace Lee will present “Sharing Our Stories” at 12:30 p.m. at the Dorchester Senior Center, 1419 Dorchester Road, Brooklyn, NY 11226 (basement level).
A group of seniors participated in a storytelling workshop/project. Their inspirations were numerous- some recounted their childhoods, immigration experiences, or memories of growing up in Brooklyn. The participants have incredible life stories. Please share in our final celebration party. Refreshments will be served.
Seniors Partnering with Artists Citywide (SPARC) is a community arts engagement program that places artists‐in‐residence at senior centers across the five boroughs of New York City. Through the program, 51 artists will provide creative programming for seniors at 50 centers in 2014, presenting free public events and displaying a diverse array of projects this spring and summer. SPARC is a collaboration among the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, the Department for the Aging and five of the City's local arts councils. The program was developed in 2009 as part of the Mayor’s Age‐Friendly NYC initiative, and is supported, in part, by funding from the Department for the Aging.
