Flatbush Mutual Aid BIKE WORKSHOP

Beginning in January 2014 FMA Bicycle Workshops will take place on the first and third Saturdays of each month. The workshops will run from 2pm until 5pm at our regular location - the church house gym behind Flatbush Reformed Church, corner of Flatbush and Church - and, weather permitting, in the parking lot. Entrance is on Kenmore Terrace.

Our goals in these workshops are

• to promote the wider use of bicycles as a means of transportation and recreation

• to increase bicycle safety and enjoyment through teaching people to repair and maintain their own bicycles and improve their riding skills.

We will do bicycle safety checks, help you to fix flats, adjust brakes and gears and any other problems you may have with your bicycle. Our ‘mutual aid store’ has donated and recycled parts and accessories.

There is no charge for the workshops or parts, but we encourage donations of time or money to help continue the program. We are always looking for bicycle mechanics to share their skills.

In March we will begin SPRING TUNE UP WORKSHOPS covering adjustments, lubrication, bearings, etc. and KIDS ON BIKES sessions specifically for children [and their parents] including safety check of bicycles, riding round a course, being safe on the streets, and more.

Tuesday evening clinics will continue but will be for DIY and regulars. Our No Sweat Sewing Workshops take place on the second and fourth Saturdays, from 1.30 to 4.30pm.
