East Islip Students Photograph Beauty In Nature At Bayard
The photography students recently enjoyed a working field trip to a local state park.
From East Islip Schools: East Islip High School students in Joy Taylor’s and Heather Toomey’s photography classes recently enjoyed a working field trip to a local state park, Bayard Cutting Arboretum. Toomey's students were photographing a narrative in film photography, and also had a digital scavenger hunt to complete.
“It was great to get to see all of the students interact and work together,” said Taylor. “Taking photos is something that the students have to do on their own time, and it was really nice to be able to help them as they worked to complete the assignments. For a lot of students, it was their first time visiting the Arboretum. What a beautiful day we had.”
“It was a wonderful opportunity to be able to photograph beauty in nature at a place so close to home,” said independent study photography student Gia Piazza. “I hope we can continue the tradition of field trips in photography, it’s such a valuable experience for the students,” said Toomey.
