Student Investigated After Making 'Inappropriate Remark'
School officials called police after reports of a student making a threat, the superintendent wrote in a letter.

EAST ISLIP, NY - Suffolk Police responded to a report of an East Islip student making an "inappropriate remark/threat" earlier this week, Superintendent John Dolan wrote in a letter to the community.
School officials received the report at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15 and immediately called the police after becoming aware of the threat.
Police went to the student's home and after an investigation, was deemed "not to be a threat," Dolan wrote. The situation was resolved by 7 p.m.

"I would like to remind our students and ask our parents to remind their children that what they may think is a joke, we take very seriously especially when it falls under the dome of school security," Dolan added. "Also, when you see something, please say something so we can assess and address each situation with our partners at the Suffolk County Police Department."
As an added precaution, the police department provided two cars at the high school building.

"It was an ironic benefit as we have never seen traffic on Spur Drive move as slowly as it did today," Dolan wrote.
