Two East Islip Teachers Honored For Saving Two Choking Students
The two recently successfully performed the Heimlich maneuver to save students who were choking.

EAST ISLIP, NY - Two Timber Point Elementary School teachers were recently honored for saving two students from choking.
First kindergarten teacher Michele Brodtman saved a child who was choking on a Fruit Roll-Up snack.
Then paraprofessional Deborah Keating saved another child choking on a chicken nugget during lunch.

In both cases, the women successfully performed the Heimlich maneuver on the children.
“Both children were saved due to these amazing women jumping into action, responding to the situation without hesitation,” Timber Point Principal Danielle Naccarato said.

The women were recognized for their life-saving action during the March 8 Board of Education meeting.
