Artist Kicks Off New Series At East Hampton Shop: Photos
The new series will spotlight artists at Golden Eagle Artist Supply in East Hampton.
EAST HAMPTON, NY — Wednesday was a big day at Golden Eagle Artist Supply on North Main Street in East Hampton, as the first of their much anticipated new weekly art series called "A Night Out With. . ." debuted in "The Golden Eagle Studio 144", followed by dinner at Nick & Toni's Restaurant next door.
Surrounded by his paintings, which were hanging museum-style, internationally acclaimed artist Paton Miller shared the story of his life's journey, from Seattle to Hawaii to Southampton to Costa Rica, and many places worldwide in between.
He told of his early search for employment, from his time as a gas station manager, to his eventual attendance at the Honolulu Academy of Arts. In 1974 it was colleagues at Southampton College that really demonstrated their confidence in Miller's artistic abilities by granting him a college scholarship. His paintings are treasured by collectors from the East End to Manhattan.
