Court Date For Case Against Montauk Establishment Set For Later Date

The establishment was issued several noise violations during the summer.

The court date for the violations made against a Montauk establishment has been pushed to January.

Motions filed in East Hampton Town Justice Court have been set for Jan. 4 for the five noise violations issued to the restaurant, bar and hotel, The Surf Lodge, according to a report in Newsday.

Several other local establishments including the restaurant and bar, Sloppy Tuna, have received several noise violations from June through August, Newsday reports.

If they are found guilty, owners can face fines as low as $1,000 or as high as $10,000 and possible jail time up to 15 days.

The violations were given out after police and town officials began cracking down in Montauk after the hamlet’s party scene became β€œout of control” this past summer.

After the Fourth of July weekend, local residents began to express their anger at the local scene and asked officials to step up to help solve the problems in the area.

In July, the East Hampton Town Board agreed to authorize overtime funding for police, fire and code enforcement personnel for the summer.
