SPRINGS, NY — An East Hampton man who was badly injured after his car careened into two Springs businesses recently needs help.

A GoFundMe page, "Kevin Buestan," was created by Joselyn Buestan; the page said that on September 21, during the early dawn hours, Buestan, 20, was in a crash.

The severe impact, she said, led to Buestan being airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition. "Therefore, we would like to thank everyone for their collaboration because there are many expenses to cover. On behalf of the Buestan family, we are grateful for your generosity. God bless you all," she wrote.

Springs Fire Department Chief Darrin Downs said the car crashed into the Montauk Market and Springs Auto Repair. The driver's side door was pinned up against a generator, he said; to extricate and evaluate Buestan, the passenger side of the vehicle needed to be removed, as well as a portion of the rooftop.

During the rescue, there were concerns that the building might collapse, Downs said.

The auto repair shop remained closed for a few days after the crash, Downs said. "There was a fairly decent hole in the back," he said, as well as a section of concrete damaged and a portion of the building that collapsed.

The market, he said, was open after the crash, with damage mainly to the shingles in front.

As firefighters worked to rescue Buestan, Downs said there were concerns over the proximity of the generator; in addition, electrical wires were brought down near the market.
