Drunk Driver Caught Speeding in East Hampton: Police
The driver was arrested on Springs Fireplace Road, police said.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — An East Hampton man was caught speeding drunk on Springs Fireplace Road, police said.
According to East Hampton Town Police, Scott C. Knieser, 39, was arrested on Saturday at 2:22 a.m. near Hartley Boulevard; police said he was seen driving a red 2014 Nissan Rogue north at a rate of 60 miles per hour in a 40 mile per hour zone.
Upon investigation, police said he had the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, bloodshot, glassy eyes, slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet; he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests administered, police added.

Knieser was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, first offense, a misdemeanor, police said.
