Drunk Driver Caught Speeding in Town: Police
BREAKING: The man was arrested on Abrahams Path, police said.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — A drunk driver was caught speeding in East Hampton, police said.
According to East Hampton Town Police, John E. Peele, 52, was arrested on Dec. 30 at 8:06 p.m. on Abrahams Path and charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor. He was also charged with operating a motor vehicle with .08 of 1 percent alcohol or more in blood, first offense, a misdemeanor, police said.
Peele was driving a purple 1998 Dodge north on Abrahams Path near Thomas Avenue; he was seen driving 46 miles per hour in a posted 30 mile per hour zone, police said.

Upon investigation, Peele was found to have the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, bloodshot, glassy eyes, and slurred speech; he was also unsteady on his feet and performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests administered, police said.
Peele made the admission that he'd "had one Budweiser at a friend's house about an hour ago", police said.

He was released on his own recognizance, police said.
