Drunk Driver Crashes Car in Amagansett: Police

The man was arrested on Alberts Landing Road, police said.

AMAGANSETT, NY — An East Hampton man was charged with driving drunk after he crashed his car in Amagansett, police said.

According to East Hampton Town police, Carlos M. Grajales, 49, was arrested on July 31 at 1:40 a.m. after drove a 2001 Dodge north on Alberts Landing Road by the intersection of Old Stone Highway and was involved in a single car crash.

Upon contacting him, police said he had the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, bloodshot, glassy eyes, slurred speech, and was unsteady on his feet; he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests administered, police said.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated, first offense, a misdemeanor, and aggravated driving while intoxicated, BAC of .18 or 1 percent or more alcohol in blood, no priors, a misdemeanor, police said.
