Drunk Driver Crashes Car on Christmas Morning: Police

The man was nabbed in East Hampton, police said.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — An East Hampton man was charged with driving drunk after crashing his car on Christmas morning, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Cristian F. Suarez-Polania, 27, was arrested on Dec. 25 at 7:55 a.m. on Three Mile Harbor Hog Creek Road near Gardiners Lane after he crashed his car.

He was driving a 1998 south when he crashed, police said. Upon investigation, he had the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and bloodshot, glassy eyes, police said.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated, first offense, a misdemeanor, and operating a motor vehicle with .08 of 1 percent alcohol or more in blood, first offense, a misdemeanor, police said.

He was released on his own recognizance and given an appearance ticket, police said.
