Drunk Driver Had Open Beer Can, Empties Strewn About the Car: Police

He was also driving with a suspended license, police said.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — An East Hampton man who was nabbed for driving drunk had an open beer in his car and empties behind his seat, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Diego Ismael Pillco-Villa, 23, was arrested on Sept. 18 at 6:40 p.m. when he was driving a 2001 Nissan sedan north on Malone Street near Fort Pond Boulevard and was stopped due to an ongoing investigation of a motor vehicle accident, leaving the scene, and was found to have an open beer can in his console and numerous open beer cans behind his seat.

Upon investigation, he was found to have the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, bloodshot, glassy eyes, slurred speech, and was unsteady on his feet; he also performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests administered, police said.

He was charged with operating a motor vehicle with .08 of 1 percent alcohol or more in blood, first offense, a misdemeanor, driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and third degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle — he was found to be driving with a suspended license — a misdemeanor, police said.

Bail was set at $250, police said.
