Drunk Man Tried To Drive Away From Cops: Police
BREAKING: The man also drove over pavement markings into opposite lane, police say.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — A drunk Manhasset man tried to drive away from authorities, police said.
According to East Hampton Town Police, Robert Snedeker, 60, was arrested on Feb. 11 at 11:40 p.m. at Old Northwest Road in East Hampton.
Snedeker was driving a 2014 BMW north on Old Northwest Road near the intersection of Cedar Street; he drove over pavement markings into the opposite lane of travel, then stopped his vehicle at the intersection of Old Northwest Road and Cedar Street for an extended period of time, signaling a right turn where it was not safe to do so, police said.

A police officer activated his emergency lights for a traffic stop and exited a marked patrol vehicle; Snedeker drove away, heading north on Old Northwest Road, where a traffic stop was then conducted, police said.
He was found to have the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, bloodshot, glassy eyes, and slurred speech, and was unsteady on his feet, police said. He also performed poorly on standardized field sobriety tests, police said.

Snedeker was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle with .08 of 1 percent alcohol or more in blood, first offense, a misdemeanor, and driving while intoxicated, first offense, a misdemeanor, police said.
He was released on his own recognizance, police said.
