East Hampton Man Busted for Driving Drunk: Police

The man was charged with felony DWI, after crossing over the double yellow line and driving into oncoming traffic, police said.

EAST HAMPTON, NY- An East Hampton man was cuffed on Friday in East Hampton after he drove drunk, police said.

According to East Hampton Town police, Wilson E. Ordonez, 37, was arrested at 10:34 p.m. after driving a white 2004 Chevrolet south on Three Mile Harbor Hog Creek Road near Gardiners Avenue. Police said Ordonez was observed failing to keep right and maintain his lane of travel and crossing over the double yellow pavement markings, driving into oncoming traffic.

Ordonez, police said, had a “strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, his speech was slurred, and his eyes were bloodshot and glassy.” When Ordonez stepped out of his vehicle, he was unsteady on his feet, police said; he performed poorly on all field sobriety tests administered, police said.

Ordonez was arrested and charged with aggravated DWI, a felony due to a prior conviction within the past 10 years. He was also charged with driving a vehicle not equipped with an interlock device, a misdemeanor, police said.
