East Hampton Man Caught Driving Drunk and on Drugs: Police

The driver had only three working tires, police said.

EAST HAMPTON, NY- A man was cuffed for driving while drunk and on drugs in East Hampton, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, David Brian Horne, 22, was driving a 2001 Ford south on Springs Fireplace Road near the intersection of Fort Pond Boulevard on February 8 at 12:59 a.m.

Horne, police said, was driving on only three working tires while traveling over the pavement markings in both lanes of travel. Upon investigation, police said “there was a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, as well as an odor of marijuana. His eyes were bloodshot and glassy, he was unsteady on his feet, his speech was slurred, he had poor coordination and reaction time, a sluggish demeanor and was disoriented.”

Horne performed poorly on all standard field sobriety tests administered, police said.

He was arrested and charged with driving while ability impaired, combined influence of drugs or alcohol and drugs, a misdemeanor, police said, and released on $500 cash bail.
