East Hampton Teens Seriously Hurt After Motorcycle Hits Deer

One of the 18-year-olds is in critical but stable condition after accident early Friday, police say.

Two East Hampton teens were seriously injured–with one of them in critical but stable condition–after the motorcycle they were riding struck a deer early Friday morning in East Hampton, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Matthew T. Menold, 18, was driving a Honda motorcycle north on Hog Creek Road when the bike hit a deer just north of Dogwood at 1:25 a.m.

Menold and his passenger, Camaron W. Cassidy, 18, were ejected from the motorcycle and sustained serious injuries, police said.

Cassidy was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital and is listed in critical but stable condition, police said.

Menold was taken to Southampton Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and is expected to make a full recovery, police said.

Detectives are continuing to investigate and ask that anyone who may have witnessed the accident contact the East Hampton Town Police Department at 631-537-7575. No criminal charges have been filed at this time.
