East Hampton Town Kicks Off Hamlet, Business Studies
The town board is seeking the public's input on East Hampton's hamlets, as well as a business study.

EAST HAMPTON, NY - Residents and business owners who want to join the dialogue about the future of East Hampton's commercial centers are invited to attend a series of hamlet meetings and provide input on a new business studies.
The public kickoff for the 2016 Hamlet and Business Studies will include a town board presentation and overview and be held on Tuesday, March 15 at Town Hall.
Following will be the first event for the Amagansett and Wainscott hamlets, to be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15 at Town Hall.

The kickoff events for the Downtown Montauk and Montauk Harbor hamlets will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15 at the Montauk Playhouse gymnasium, and again at Wednesday, March 16 at the Montauk Playhouse gymnasium at 1 p.m.
According to East Hampton town officials, the kickoff meetings aim to help the consulting team better understand community needs and ideas for the hamlet study — a year-long look at the unique issues affecting the commercial areas within the six hamlets of East Hampton, Springs, Wainscott, Amagansett, Downtown Montauk and Montauk Harbor.

The resulting plans, officials said, will show how to shape future development "to create dynamic, walkable centers while preserving open space and enhancing the unique character of each hamlet."
The town is also asking for the public's input on the business study, "which will recommend concrete steps the town and the business community can take to maintain a thriving economy while serving the needs of part- and full-time residents and preserving the local character of the hamlets," town officials said.
Space may be limited; those wishing to attend are asked to RSVP as early as possible by emailing EHHamletStudy@gmail.com. All are welcome at any of the meetings, town officials said.
