The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in East Hampton.

(East Hampton Daily)

Happy Thursday, neighbors! Diane Witek here providing you with what you need to know to get your day started off right! Here's everything you need to know about what's happening today.

First, today's weather:

Milder. High: 53, low: 44.

Here are the top stories today in East Hampton:

  1. East Hampton Town Board Split Over $6.8 Million Land Buy. The 3-to-2 vote to acquire 28, 30, and 32 Green Hollow Road reflected the comments heard during an Oct. 21 public hearing, when the proposed acquisition drew strong criticism and complaints about a lack of transparency and an excessive purchase price. (East Hampton Star)
  2. Town Fights Bid To Move Truck Beach Protesters' Cases. Friday's action was the latest in a long-running disagreement pitting commercial fishermen and East Hampton residents who have used the stretch of ocean beach for generations, against the landward property owners who portrayed a dangerous environment with hundreds of vehicles weaving through crowds and children at play, and people and dogs urinating and defecating in the dunes. (East Hampton Star)
  3. Another Yes For South Fork Wind Farm. Last Thursday, the nonprofit Government Justice Center filed a lawsuit on behalf of two Long Island ratepayers alleging that LIPA "ignored its own criteria for power production resources" in entering into a contract for the South Fork Wind Farm. The suit calls the project's power, "unreliable because it depends on an intermittent resource to generate electricity." (East Hampton Star)
  4. Town Of East Hampton: COVID Testing Thanksgiving Week Schedule: Rapid tests to be offered, see full details. (Press Release Desk)
