History Fair Kicks Off East Hampton Town's 375th Anniversary
The event takes place Saturday.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — East Hampton Town is set to mark its 375th anniversary with a series of festivities, beginning with a history fair Saturday.
The history fair will take place on the grounds of East Hampton Town Hall, located at 159 Pantigo Road, on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The free event will begin with an opening ceremony by the Montaukett Women’s Dance Circle at 1:15 p.m., followed by presentations on local history topics prepared by students in various schools, and live music performances.

East Hampton Town Historian Hugh King will be on hand for people to “Ask the Historian,” and vintage films depicting significant events in East Hampton history, provided by LTV, will be screened in Town Hall throughout the day.
Reproductions of East Hampton Town records, provided by the East Hampton Library’s Long Island collection, will be on display.

Children and adults can test their knowledge of East Hampton history with history trivia and scavenger hunts. Food and ice-cream trucks will visit throughout the day.
Presenting their local history projects will be:
East Hampton Middle School sixth grade: "Sea Shanties and School History"
Sag Harbor Elementary School third grade: "Songs About the History of Whaling"
Montauk School: A photo quilt inspired by Carl Fisher’s vision of Montauk
East Hampton High School: Art panels and historical significance
Springs School: Songs from the fourth-grade opera about Jackson Pollock; and more.

A variety of nonprofit community groups will have tables at the fair highlighting their history, including the East Hampton Farm Museum, the Parrish Art Museum, Springs Historical Society, Arts Center at Duck Creek, the Eastville Community Historical Society, the Amagansett Village Improvement Society, the Springs Improvement Society, Ashawagh Hall, the Montauketts, the Everit Albert Herter Post 550 VFW, the Montauk and Amagansett libraries, and the East Hampton Town aquaculture department.
A committee, which includes representatives from the East Hampton Historical Society, local schools and libraries, and community groups, has been meeting to plan East Hampton Town 375th Anniversary year events, which will include a 375th Anniversary and East Hampton High School Homecoming Parade and Fair on September 23.
