Intrepid Souls Take the Plunge to Help East Hampton's Hungry
The Polar Bear Plunge in East Hampton is an annual tradition.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — Intrepid souls took the plunge on New Year's Day to help feed the hungry in East Hampton.
Smiling despite the cold temperatures, participants gathered at Main Beach for the annual East Hampton Hurricanes Polar Bear Plunge, organized by the East Hampton Volunteer Ocean Rescue Squad to benefit East Hampton food pantries.
The event included prizes for best costumes, a 50/50 raffle, apparel for sale, food and refreshments.
