KIDS HIT THE STREETS FOR GIVE LOCAL AMERICA 2015/EAST HAMPTON FOOD PANTRY

ONE DAY. EVERY PERSON. OUR COMMUNITY.

APRIL 25, 2015 - Local kids from the Amagansett School, East Hampton Middle School, East Hampton High School and Springs School, spent the day posting flyers and answering questions about Give Local America 2015.

The East Hampton Food Pantry in partnership with Give Local America is a national crowd-funding event aimed at giving every person and over 8,000 non-profit organizations the opportunity to join in a collective effort to improve the long-term outlook in their communities.

For over 25 years, the East Hampton Food Pantry has addressed a very real and very local fight against hunger in Amagansett, East Hampton, Montauk, Springs and Wainscott. They currently support over 33,000 people per year, nearly 12,000 families and over 10,000 children.

Give Local America is the perfect platform for non-profits that do not have the budget for anything more than modest overhead costs. Using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social networks to reach many millions of people nationwide, organizations gain tremendous exposure and awareness. It is an amazing way for technology driven kids to become involved because it is their platform of the future...and it’s cool!

The Hamptons has always been a hotbed of celebrity driven fundraisers for very worthy causes. Local organizations are sometimes overshadowed. When the summer season is long over, families, senior residents and seasonal workers struggle to meet their basic needs. They sometimes need to choose between heat, electricity and food. They turn to the East Hampton Food Pantry for help. Each week, volunteers work tirelessly to serve them with dignity and feel it is a privilege to do so.
