LI Man To Complete Walk From Buffalo To Montauk This Week
The started the walk to raise awareness for the abuse of disabled people in government facilities and should arrive in Montauk on Friday.

A Long Island native is scheduled to complete his walk from Buffalo to Montauk this week.
Tom Cavanagh 62, began his 600-mile journey on Monday, Sept. 22 in order to raise awareness for the abuse of disabled people in government facilities, Newsday reports.
According to Newsday, he is scheduled to arrive in Montauk this Friday, Oct. 10.

As a kid in Levittown, Cavanagh was a victim of abusive beatings. He has not seen his brother, John, since those days over 30 years ago. He hopes this walk will allow them to connect, according to Newsday.
βI grew up and was able to defend myself, but these people canβt defend themselves,β he said according to Newsday.
