Local School Proceeds With Caution After Threat to Southampton School

After an anonymous caller made violent threats to Southampton High School Thursday morning, Amagansett School went into lockdown mode as a precaution, according to The East Hampton Star.

The lockdown was lifted at about 2 p.m., The East Hampton Star reports.

East Hampton Police officials were made aware of thelockout situation in Southampton by Southampton Village Police, but were not notified of any threats specifically in East Hampton, The East Hampton Star reports.

East Hampton High School did not appear to take any precautions.

Dr. Lois Favre, Superintendent of Bridgehampton School District, was in contact with Southampton Police, who advised that there was no need to put Bridgehampton School on lockdown, according to a post on the Bridgehampton Union Free School District Facebook page.

“Staff were alerted of the situation, and according to police, at no time were Bridgehampton students/staff in danger,” Favre wrote on the page.
