Local Student Scores Recognition in National Merit Scholarship Program

Congratulations to Eve Bishop!

SAG HARBOR, NY — A Pierson High School senior has made her community proud.

Eve Bishop, a senior at Pierson High School, has earned the title of Commended Student in the National Merit Scholarship Program as a result of her outstanding score on the qualifying exam, according to a release sent out by the Sag Harbor School district.

She is one of approximately 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation recognized for their “exceptional academic promise.”

To earn the title, she placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2017 National Merit Competition by taking the PSAT, the release noted.

A well-rounded student, Eve is the captain of the high school Quiz Bowl team and plays oboe in the school band. She also studies film and photography at the International Center of Photography in New York City and is a volunteer at The Retreat, an organization that provides services to victims of domestic violence, n East Hampton.

Eve plans to major in art in college.
