Man Busted for Drunk Driving in East Hampton: Police

The driver disobeyed a stop sign, police said.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — An East Hampton man was cuffed after he was caught driving drunk, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, John J. Lehmann, 27, was arrested on Sept. 3 at 10 p.m. on Maidstone Park Road.

Lehmann was driving a 2007 green Toyota RAV4 east on Maidstone Park Road when he was seen disobeying a stop sign at the intersection of Maidstone Park Road South and Maidstone Road, police said.

Upon contact, Lehmann had the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, bloodshot, glassy eyes, slurred speech, was unsteady on his feet, and performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests administered, police said.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated, first offense, a misdemeanor, as well as operating a motor vehicle with .08 of 1 percent alcohol or more in blood, first offense, a misdemeanor, police said.

He was released on his own recognizance, police said.
