Man Caught With Cocaine In East Hampton: Police

BREAKING: The cocaine was found in the console of the man's car, police said.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — An East Hampton man was arrested after he was caught with cocaine Saturday, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Austin A. Bennett, 25, was arrested at 10:38 p.m. on Cedar Street, near Cedar Ct., after he was found to have 12 clear plastic Ziploc bags "containing a white powdery substance and white powdery residue that field tested positive for the presence of cocaine."

The bags were located in the center console of the vehicle he was driving, police said.

He was charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, as well as unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, police said.

Bennett was released on his own recognizance, police said.
