Man Caught With Cocaine in Montauk After Running Out of Gas: Police

The cocaine was found in the man's pants pocket, police said.

MONTAUK, NY — A New Suffolk man was busted after he was found with cocaine in his pants pocket in Montauk, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Ryan Christopher Marcotrigiano, 23, was arrested last Friday at 2:35 a.m. on Montauk Highway near Upland Road and charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.

Police said Marcotrigiano ran out of gas and pulled over to the side of the road; an officer came to check on his well-being and found he had the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, slurred speech, bloodshot, glassy eyes, was unsteady on his feet and performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests administered.

He was also charged with driving while intoxicated, first offense, a misdemeanor, and operating a motor vehicle with .08 of 1 percent alcohol or more in blood, first offense, a misdemeanor, police said.

Marcotrigiano was found to have a clear plastic bag containing a white, powdery substance that field tested positive for the presence of cocaine in his right pants pocket, police said.

He was released on his own recognizance, police said.
