Man Caught Driving Drunk on Fort Pond Road in Montauk: Police
The driver was charged with a misdemeanor, police said.

MONTAUK, NY - A Hauppauge man was busted for driving drunk in Montauk on Saturday, police said.
According to East Hampton Town police, Robert A. Thompson, 64, was heading east in a 1996 Ford on Fort Pond Road and Edgemere Street; he was arrested at 8:49 p.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle with .08 of 1 percent alcohol or more in blood, first offense, a misdemeanor.
Police said Thompson failed to stop and signal a right turn at a stop sign. Upon investigation, police said he had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, bloodshot, glassy eyes, and slurred speech. He was also unsteady on his feet and performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests administered, police said.
