Man Charged In Rye Attack On Teen Also Charged With Hamptons Rape: PD
He was also arrested in East Hampton and charged with 1st-degree criminal sex act by force, strangulation, and rape, police say.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — A Port Chester man accused of violently attacking a teen girl at a Rye beach was also arrested and charged with sex crimes in East Hampton last year, police said.
According to East Hampton Town Police Det. Sgt. Ryan Hogan, Richard A. Olmino, 21, was picked up in New York City in November. and brought back to East Hampton to answer to charges. Olmino was arrested on Nov. 22, 2022 and charged with first-degree criminal sex act by force, a felony, second-degree strangulation, a felony, and third-degree rape, non consent, a felony, Hogan said.
The Rye Police Department arrested Olmino Monday in connection with an assault that occurred shortly after midnight on June 23.

The attack at Rye Town Park on Forest Avenue, between Dearborn and Oakland Beach Avenues, triggered a multi-agency search for the suspect. The victim, a 16-year-old girl, reported being initially engaged in conversation with the man before being tackled and assaulted.
He then reportedly threatened the teen, saying that he was armed with a knife, although no weapon was displayed. The assault was interrupted by a security officer at the park.

Olmino, who at the time of his arrest was free on bail in connection with the arrest for a criminal sexual act first degree in East Hampton, was arrested in Port Chester and charged with sexual abuse in the first degree, a class D felony.
Additional charges are pending, according to police.
Olmino was processed at the City of Rye Police Department, arraigned, and remanded to the Westchester County Jail with no bail to return to Rye Court on Tuesday.
The Rye Police Department said it was assisted by the Westchester County Police, the Westchester County District Attorney's Office, the FBI, and the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.
