Man Facing Felony DWI Charge Lies to Cop About Identity: Police

BREAKING: The man had three prior DWI charges in 15 years, police said.

WAINSCOTT, NY β€” A drunk driver facing felony charges lied to cops about his identity in Wainscott, police said.

Robert Dozier, 53, of Mastic, was arrested on Saturday at 9:37 p.m. on Main Street near Wainscott Stone Road and charged with false personation, a misdemeanor, DWI, three prior convictions designated offenses within 15 years, a felony, and first degree aggravated unlicensed operation: commit aggravated unlicensed operation 2/alcohol or drugs, a felony, police said.

Dozier, police said, was driving a 2001 Lincoln east near Wainscott Stone Road while intoxicated; he was seen failing to maintain his lane of travel by crossing over the white pavement markings, driving into the shoulder, and accelerating to an "unreasonable and imprudent speed" while failing to keep right and crossing over the double yellow pavement markings.

He was found to have the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, glassy, bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet; he performed poorly on all field sobriety tests administered, police said.
