Montauk Highway Closed After Truck Hits Utility Pole

Montauk Highway in Wainscott was closed until about 1 a.m. on Wednesday after an accident on Tuesday afternoon, according to the a post on the East Hampton Town Police Facebook page.

A truck struck a utility pole which caused it to fall across the roadway and closed the road from Sayre’s Path to Wainscott Northwest Road until the scene was clear and the pole was removed, police said in the Facebook post.

No injuries were reported.
