Montauk Motel Building Seriously Damaged in Fire
The fire broke out on early Friday morning.

The Hartman’s Briney Breezes Motel in Montauk was extensively damaged in a fire on early Friday morning.
One of the buildings of the motel located on Old Montauk Highway caught fire at about 4:30 a.m.
The Montauk Fire Department responded and was able to contain the fire before it spread to any other of the five motel buildings.

Firefighters from the Amagansett, East Hampton, Springs, Sag Harbor, and Bridgehampton Fire Departments also responded and helped to put out the fire within an hour, according to a report in 27east.
The one three-story (including a basement) building, which is 9,000 square feet in total, was seriously damaged, according to the report.

There were no injuries reported.
The motel will continue to be open for the next two weeks before closing for the 2015 season, a message on the motel’s Facebook page on Monday read.
“The Hartman’s Briney Breezes Motel Family would like to thank the Montauk Fire Department, the East Hampton Police Department, and all of our guests and friends for their help and concern these past few days,” the message read. “All of your texts, phone calls, and Facebook messages are overwhelmingly appreciated.”
