Northwest Woods Home Seriously Damaged in Fire

No injuries were reported.

A Northwest Woods home in East Hampton was damaged by a fire on Monday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to the home on Hands Creek Road after receiving a call at about 12:27 p.m.

The fire caused smoke damage throughout the home as well as ”excessive damage” at the front of the home, 27east reports.

There appeared to have been no occupants in the home and no injuries were reported.

East Hampton Fire Department Chief Gerry Turz called tanker trucks from several other departments because of a shortage of public water in the area since the closest hydrant was 1,600 feet away from the house, according to The East Hampton Star.

Tankers from Amagansett, Montauk, Springs, Sag Harbor, Bridgehampton and Southampton Fire Departments were called and an engine from Springs Fire Department was on standby at the East Hampton Fire Department and Sag Harbor Fire Department sent an ambulance, according to 27east.

The fire is still under investigation.
