Passenger Critically Injured in Springs Crash; Driver Charged With DWI: Police
BREAKING: The car veered off the road and into the woods, police said.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — A passenger was critically injured after a drunk driver crashed his car in Springs early Wednesday, police said.
According to East Hampton Town Police, the single car carsh took place at 2:53 a.m. at the intersection of Three Mile Harbor and Squaw Roads in Springs.
Mark M. Wesnofske, 37, was driving a 2002 Land Rover south when he lost control of the vehicle and veered into the woods, police said.

Wesnofske was arrested at the scene and charged with driving while intoxicated before being taken by Springs Fire Department Ambulance to Southampton Hospital for treatment of a head injury, police said.
His passenger was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital by Suffolk County Aviation with "serious" injuries; the passenger's name is being withheld until next of kin are notified, police said.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety inspection and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
