Police: East Hampton Man Drove Drunk With 6-Year-Old Son in Car
Driver arrested late Saturday night in Bridgehampton, police say.

An East Hampton man faces a felony DWI charge after police say he was drunk while driving with his 6-year-old son in his car Saturday night in Bridgehampton.
According to State Police, Flavio E. Pena-Vallejo, 42, was driving his 1998 Honda Civic eastbound on Montauk Highway, just east of Ocean Road, at about 11:35 p.m. when a trooper pulled him over for moving from his lane unsafely.
When stopped, Pena-Vallejo displayed signs of intoxication and was placed under arrest, police said. Pena-Vallejo ’s 6-year-old son, who was in a rear child booster seat, was turned over to his uncle.

Pena-Vallejo is charged with aggravated DWI–a felony under Leandra’s Law– and endangering the welfare of a child, as well as several traffic infractions. Pena-Vallejo was held overnight at the Suffolk County Jail in Riverhead and is due to be arraigned Sunday in arraignment in Southampton Town Justice Court.
