Police: Man Charged With Driving Drunk, Leaving Scene of Accident in East Hampton Village
The incident occurred on Friday night.
An East Hampton man was arrested for DWI and leaving the scene of an accident in East Hampton Village on Friday night, according to Village Police.
An officer responded to Montauk Highway by Northwest Road at about 11:45 p.m. on a report of a car accident, according to police.
While in route, the driver left the scene and was being followed by an off duty Southampton Village police officer, police said.

The officer stopped the car by Main Street and Dayton Lane, according to police.
While interviewing the driver, identified as Byran Cueva Calle, 20, the officer ”smelled an odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath,” noticed his “eyes were glassy and bloodshot, his speech was slurred, and he was having a hard time retrieving his license from his wallet,” police said.

In addition, when he was asked to exit his car, he was unsteady on his feet, police said.
The officer administered several roadside sobriety tests which Cueva CAlle failed, according to police.
He was charged with a DWI and leaving the scene of property damage, according to police.
