Ross Graduate and Her Mom Take Leap in Froggy Bottoms Clogs
Margaret Yoh and her mother Sarah Yoh have are making Froggy Bottoms clogs.
Froggy Bottoms started business in Martha’s Vineyard but these clogs decorated with frogs got their first step on the East End.
Margaret Yoh, a 27-year-old graduate, and her mother, Sarah Yoh, went into business together selling their sturdy and comfortable slip-on shoe over a year ago, but the idea was borne at least 10 years ago.
Margaret grew up in Sag Harbor and became an avid horseback rider. When Margaret was about 12 years old, her mother decided that it would be more comfortable if her daughter wore clogs in between shows rather than the riding boots all day.

“I had a pair of these clogs, I thought they would look so cute with something on them—I glued the frogs on. She wore them ever since and I’ve worn them every since," Sarah said.
Margaret wore the clogs all over the East End in between classes at horse shows and received compliments from a variety of people. "The shows our shoes really got attention at were the Sagaponack Horse Show and the Hampton Classic," Margaret said.

The mother-daughter pair started making the shoes for their friends.
After years of talking about going into business with the clog idea, they finally made the leap and started marketing the shoes last April.
Margaret said they just launched the website in July and that this is their first real season of sales. Prior to the website they were selling the shoes in a few select Martha’s Vineyard boutiques.
They sell three different colors of clogs: red, green and blue with a different frog on each. They are available in women's sizes from 5 to 11. They retail for $98.
Margaret handles the public relations and business management side of the operation, while Sarah works more on the production side. They do collaborate on designs.
Margaret said she decided she wanted to work for herself after graduating from Saint Lawrence University and working for several years at an art gallery in Boston.
She also attributes some of her creativity and adventurousness to her Ross education. “I left the Ross School and went away with such a unique perspective of what was possible for my future,” she said.
Sarah lives in the Berkshires in Massachusetts during the winter and in Montauk during the summer. She said she is looking to get the shoes onto the shelves of some East End stores.
A few celebrities, like Carly Simon and Oprah, already own a pair of Froggy Bottoms Clogs.
With hopes that everyone will pick up on the trend, their five-year plan is to get the clogs into stores up and down the East Coast.
