Sag Harbor's Giving Library Promotes Reading

The library has been a staple at Sag Harbor Elementary School for years.

On any given day of the week, students at Sag Harbor Elementary School can stop by the Giving Library and carefully select a book to take home and keep.

β€œI love that we can get free books,” said third-grader Harry Ambrose.

The Giving Library, which is located in the school’s main entrance, has been a staple of the elementary school for more than eight years with hundreds of books going home with students.

The books, said Principal Matthew Malone, are all donated by community members or recycled out of the school’s library.

β€œThrough the Giving Library, kids can get books that they love,” said Malone, who added that the library is just another tool to help promote young reading.
