Son Reaches Out To Help Beloved Mom Battling Serious Injury
Friends are coming to help a beloved local woman who was badly injured after she was knocked down by a dog.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — The East Hampton community rallies in a show of love and support when one of their own is in need of help.
Brendan Manning kicked off a GoFundMe, "Ronnie's Recovery Fund," to help his mother, who's faced a daunting injury.
"At the beginning of the summer, my mother, Ronnie Miller Manning, was seriously injured at the Springs Park when an unknown dog knocked her over and broke both bones in her right leg," he wrote. "It’s been a really long haul," including 3 surgeries with complications.

His mom, Manning said, did not qualify for any disability or help over the past 6 months.
"Since then, she has depleted her savings to cover her rent, bills, food, and is trying hard to keep a brave face, but needs some help," he wrote. "As everyone knows, it’s a struggle sometimes for local people to stay afloat here in the Hamptons. She is facing a long struggle ahead, as she regains use of her leg and walking again. Her insurance co-pays are piling up, and I’m worried that the stress is taking a toll."

He added, "My mother is full of pride and is used to being the one helping other people. She is not comfortable asking for help but she really could use the support of the community to help her to get through this rough patch to help, and put her focus back on the recovery of her injured leg. Any little bit would be helpful that can pay for medical bills, physical therapy, buy gas, and food, and help her to cover her rent through until she gains full use of her leg again."
His mother, Manning said, is a loving and giving person, and a strong survivor.
"She has always been there for me and many others. Thanking everyone, in advance, who is willing to pitch in and help her. Our family would be eternally grateful," he wrote.
