South Edison Opens for the Season!

South Edison, reopens for the season on Wednesday, May 8th. Chef and partner Todd Mitgang returns for his fourth season along with executive chefs, Alex Pirani and Nikhil Khosla. The seafood centric menu with inventive flavors will feature several new items and a few live music performances have already been scheduled. “For food unlike anything else in Montauk, do try South Edison” The New York Times A mere two blocks from the ocean, South Edison offers a menu changing almost daily to highlight the fresh local seafood, most of it sourced from the fishing docks only a mile away. New menu items this season include: grilled chopped romaine with Amber Waves farm heirloom cherry tomato, asparagus and meyer lemon anchovy vinaigrette; South Fork tomato chowder with black and blue little neck clams and roasted fennel basil crouton; Heirloom tomato cavatelli with housemade cavatelli, parmesan reggiano, basil, Amber Waves Farm hansel eggplant and whipped local ricotta; and Cholay, spicy chickpea falafel, curried lentil cilantro raita and mint chutney. As well a new section has been added to the menu ‘Sashimi/Crudo’ featuring black bass sashimi with griddled enokitake mushroom, plum chili jam, all-spice smoked sea salt; Hamachi crudo with kafir lime, pickled watermelon, bamboo and ginger soy dressing; Citrus scallop crudo with sea asparagus, pineapple and scallion. Live Music Schedule To kick off the summer season South Edison will hose two performers in conjunction with the Montauk Music Festival on May 17th. Singer/songwriter Alyson Faith’s (www.alysonfaith.com) music has been compared to the works of Fiona Apple, Melissa Etheridge and Stevie Nicks. She will play from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Canyon, the self-proclaimed “Song Peddler and Storyteller” (www.hellomynameiscanyon.com) will return to play some more of her Indie/Folk originals on May 17th from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. June 28th/29th, the popular Spanish duo Los Cintron will return to perform at South Edison. The talented brothers perform a mix of flamenco, Latin and world music, often playing music of the renowned Gipsy Kings. South Edison will be open for dinner Wednesday through Sunday through May and into June.
