Springs Fire Department Celebrates 50th Anniversary
The department hosted a celebration on New Years Day.

The start of 2015 also meant the start of the Springs Fire Department 50th anniversary.
“The spirit that is Springs Fire Department first manifested itself early in 1965 when a small group of men decided it was time for the people of Springs to have their own Fire Department,” a message on the Springs Fire Department website. “At the urging of Ed Hults, Bob Dordelman formed a committee to explore the possibilities for a new department.”

The department kicked off their anniversary with a ceremony on New Year’s Day last Thursday.
During the ceremony, East Hampton Town Supervisor Larry Cantwell awarded Charter Members Fred Overton, Mike Collins and Joe Fitzgerald.
