Springs Students Play First Annual Bocce Ball Tournament

Boys and girls from Springs school participated in the games.

Students took the court for the first annual Springs Bocce Ball Tournament.

Both the boys team and the girls team were made up of students from the Functional Academics class and sixth graders from the Inclusion Club.

PTA vice-president Mark Lappin represented the athletic booster club and cut a ceremonial red ribbon for the new court while student Isaiah Brodie recited the Athletes’ Oath before the games began.

The opening ceremony featured Mrs. Branche’s third-grade class serving as color guard and student Liam Baum leading the participants and spectators in the Pledge of Allegiance. Music teacher Ms. Modica led Alondra Aguilar, Grace Frazier, Tori Schmitt and Emma Wiltshire in an acapella rendition of the National Anthem.

The boys team ultimately brought home the gold with a final score of 16-13, but all who participated were winners.

The boys team included Liam Baum, Isaiah Brodie, Morgan Grant, Robbie Matz and Daniel Sarlo. The girls team with MacKenzie Bennet, Taylor Duchemin, Juliana Figueroa and Paula Retana took silver.
