The board voted to approve the yearlong suspension at the meeting on Thursday night.

The East Hampton Town Board voted to approve the suspension of outdoor music at Ciao by the Beach restaurant in Montauk after it has been cited for several violations this past summer at the meeting Thursday night.
The Board voted 3-1 to approve the suspension, which would last for one year.

Over the summer, the restaurant has been cited three times for playing music too loud and two times for playing music past 9 p.m.
Several local residents complained about the restaurant at a past town board meeting, which was one of the many complaints Montauk locals have made since the hamlet has received its ‘party town’ status after the Fourth of July weekend.

“Montauk is experience chaos of what happened this summer so we’re trying to respond to what the people want,” Councilwoman Sylvia Overby said. “And the people want quiet after 9 p.m.”
According to Overby, residents have also complained about some other restaurants playing music, but the Town Board is still waiting for information from local police and code enforcement officials.
