Voters' Guide 2016: East Hampton School District Budget, School Board Elections

What you need to know for Tuesday.

EAST HAMPTON, NY - East Hampton residents will vote on the school district’s $$66,721,301proposed budget for the 2016-17 school year on Tuesday, May 17.

The total budget increase is .97 percent while the tax rate would rise by .73 percent over the current year’s rate if the budget is approved.

The estimated annual school tax increase on a property with an assessed value of $6,000 will be $22.60.

Four candidates are running for three seats on the East Hampton Board of Education.

Facing off for the seats are Incumbents JP Foster, Wendy Geehreng and Rich Wilson, as well as Alison Anderson.

Voting will take place on May 19 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., at East Hampton High School, located at 2 Long Lane in East Hampton.
