Woman Cuffed for DWI, Hit Grandstand After Montauk St. Patrick's Day Parade

No one was sitting on the aluminum spectator benches at the time of the accident, police said.

EAST HAMPTON, NY: A woman ended up behind bars following the Montauk St. Patrick's Day Parade after she accidentally backed up into the grandstand and was charged with driving drunk, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police Captain Chris Anderson, Susan Colbath, 52, of Sommers, NY, was charged with driving while intoxicated, a felony, due to a prior conviction within the past 10 years.

Colbath, he said, was arrested at 1:17 pm. on Sunday at the intersection of South Euclid and South Edgemere in Montauk.

She was turning her 2013 Hyundai around when she backed up and bumped into the aluminum bench seating, Anderson said. He added that no one was in the spectator seating at the time; the crowds thinned out quickly after the parade due to the cold weather, he said.
