Woman Drives Drunk, Loses Control of Car Before Crashing into Tree: Police

The driver was arrested Sunday, police said.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — An East Hampton woman drove drunk, lost control of her car, and hit a tree in the village Sunday, police said.

According to East Hampton Village Police, Jamie Munoz, 22, was driving a 2015 gray Volkswagen Jetta when she lost control of the vehicle at 10:48 p.m. and crashed the car into a tree at the intersection of Egypt Lane and Huntting Lane in East Hampton Village.

Munoz was found to have the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath, and bloodshot, glassy eyes; she also failed several roadside sobriety tests, police said.

She was charged with driving while intoxicated special vehicle, first offense, a misdemeanor, and first degree driving with .08 of 1 percent or more alcohol, a misdemeanor, police said.
