'Bogus' Burglary Sends Bowling Green School Into Lockout, Superintendent Says

East Meadow Superintendent of Schools said the call was "totally bogus and unfounded."

An active police investigation in Westbury caused a nearby elementary school in the East Meadow School District to go into lockout on Wednesday afternoon, police said.

East Meadow Superintendent of Schools Leon J. Campo said someone called in a burglary in the Mist Lane area, which is in the vicinity of Bowling Green Elementary School, located at 2340 Stewart Ave. According to authorities, police responded to the Mist Lane location around 3:22 p.m.

Police advised Bowling Green Elementary School to go into a lockout as a precaution. A lockout means no one can enter the building.
